Josh Hardenbrook

Based in NYC, I bring a unique perspective to photography, shaped by an unconventional journey. With a PhD in experimental high-energy particle physics and over a decade in academia, I transitioned to a career in quantitative finance before rediscovering my true passion—photography. What began as a creative outlet quickly became a vital part of my life, offering both artistic expression and profound meaning.

My scientific training taught me the importance of honesty with what I know—embracing precision, curiosity, and the courage to question everything. Art, on the other hand, has taught me to be honest with who I am—celebrating vulnerability, intuition, and self-expression. Together, these lessons form the foundation of my photographic practice.

The name ‘Spinor’ for my studio reflects my roots in physics. In quantum mechanics, a spinor describes the angular momentum of particles—motions that create light. This concept resonates with my view of photography as the art of capturing light to reveal the essence of a moment.

I aim to create images that are both technically precise and deeply emotive, balancing analytical precision with artistic vision. Photography has become a way for me to explore, connect, and tell stories that feel authentic and meaningful.

I invite you to explore my portfolio and join me in this ongoing journey where science and art converge. Let’s create something extraordinary together.
